Udayana University's Faculty of Medicine Takes Proactive Steps to Enhance Academic Excellence and Community Engagement

Denpasar, October 12, 2023 - In a proactive move to continually enhance the quality of its learning, education, and community service, the Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University recently conducted an internal quality audit for its prestigious IKM FK Masters Study Program.

Led by the esteemed audit team comprising Prof. Dr. Dr. Wayan Sutirtayasa, MSi, and Dr. Dr. Ketut Widyastuti, Sp.S (K). Alongside, the Study Program Coordinator, Dr. Dr. Anak Agung Sagung Sawitri, MPH, and the study program quality assurance team lead by Dinar Saurmauli Lubis, SKM, MPH, PHD were attended this visit. The audit delved into various aspects of the program, both academic and non-academic.

The primary aim of this audit was to monitor the performance of the IKM Masters study program, ensuring it maintains its position as a leading institution in delivering quality education to students and extending its services to the community and stakeholders.

The audit commenced with an informative session, during which the Audit Team Chair elucidated the audit's purpose and methodology. Subsequently, the team presented its initial findings and provided an opportunity for the program coordinators and staff to address any concerns or clarify points.

Key findings from the audit revealed several areas requiring attention. Some issues were categorized as OB (Observations), implying that activities had been carried out, but proper documentation was lacking. These included criteria related to the emphasis on study program specifications, student service and satisfaction surveys, and the procedures for admitting new students. Additionally, issues were found in criterion 4, focusing on the organization of academic seminar activities and the calculation of lecturer-to-position ratios. Criterion 5 pertained to the provision of evidence of service and research collaboration, which also demanded further documentation. In some cases, certain findings were categorized as KTS (Key to Success), indicating that they required completion at both the faculty and university levels.

This internal audit serves as a valuable mechanism for the study program, as it provides an early detection system for issues that require resolution or follow-up at multiple levels - the study program, faculty, and university. By addressing these findings in a timely manner, Udayana University aims to better prepare itself for external quality audits and further enhance its service quality for students and the community.

The audit culminated in the signing of the audit minutes and a heartwarming group photo, symbolizing the collaborative commitment to academic excellence and community service. Udayana University's Faculty of Medicine continues its tireless efforts to maintain its renowned status as a hub of educational and community excellence.
