The Coordinator of Master of Public Health Program at Udayana University participates in a series of workshops on curriculum book development, organized by the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (UPPPM) at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. These workshops focus on aligning curriculum design with the guidelines set forth by the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 53 of 2023. The event series is being held across three sessions at the FK Unud Sudirman Building, Denpasar.
The first session took place on August 1, 2025, and was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes. In his opening remarks, the Dean expressed appreciation to the Coordinator of the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (UPPPM) FK Unud, dr. I Made Winarsa Ruma, S.Ked., Ph.D., for organizing this crucial workshop aimed at reviewing and adjusting the existing curricula across various programs. He emphasized that the curriculum is an essential component of the learning process and serves as a guide to educating students to achieve the desired competencies. The curriculum must adapt to evolving needs, regulations, and future educational challenges, involving both internal and external stakeholders in the review process.
The workshop was attended by program coordinators and curriculum leaders, and was moderated by Dr. dr. Dewa Putu Wisnu Wardhana, Sp.BS., Subsp.TB., FINSS.FICS. Two main speakers led the sessions: dr. I Wayan Sumardika, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who discussed the specifications of the program, learning outcomes, curriculum structure, content, and evaluation; and dr. I Made Winarsa Ruma, S.Ked., Ph.D., who focused on curriculum evaluation and achievement of learning outcomes (CPL).
The second workshop took place on August 8, 2025, at the Prof. dr. I
Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Meeting Room, FK Unud Sudirman Building,
Denpasar. This session was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs
and Planning at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr.
dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT (K). Like the first session, program
coordinators and curriculum leaders attended, and the workshop was again
moderated by Dr. dr. Dewa Putu Wisnu Wardhana, Sp.BS., Subsp.TB.,
FINSS.FICS. This session featured four expert speakers: dr. Ida Bagus
Amertha Putra Manuaba, MBiomed, PhD., who addressed teaching methods and
academic learning experiences, including the implementation of
Interprofessional Education/Multidisciplinary and Transdisciplinary
learning approaches; dr. I Gusti Ayu Harry Sundariyati, S.Ked., MHPE,
who presented on professional learning methods, including the
implementation of interprofessional education for specialists and
subspecialists; dr. I Made Winarsa Ruma, S.Ked., Ph.D., who discussed
the implementation of research as final projects (thesis and
dissertation); and Dr. Agus Eka Darwinata, S.Ked., Ph.D., who provided
insights on research ethics and publication.
The discussions were lively, highlighting the importance of documenting the curriculum structure from planning to implementation, ensuring everything is clearly defined. It was emphasized that the impact of the curriculum will be evident when learning outcomes (CPL) are achieved, particularly in the three key competencies: adaptability to workplace changes, teamwork collaboration, and reasoning (knowledge). Another key point was the need for programs to begin considering interprofessional learning, as has been implemented in the undergraduate program at the Faculty of Medicine. Students should be involved in understanding the curriculum from the start, so they can appreciate why specific learning methods are used. This understanding can begin during the first meeting with new students and continue in subsequent sessions.
