Udayana University Promotes Public Health Master's Program and Field Epidemiology Concentration at National Early Warning and Response System Meeting
Batam, Indonesia – June 11-14, 2024: The Master's Program in Public Health at Udayana University (Unud), a key provider of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) in Indonesia, took the opportunity to promote its FETP and Public Health Master's program during the National Early Warning and Response System (SKDR) Evaluation Meeting. This event, organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, was held at Harris Hotel Batam Centre.
The meeting was attended by regional health officials, including heads of health departments at the provincial and district levels, top-performing SKDR officers, and representatives from various national health organizations. Attendees included Deans from the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Defense University, heads of military and civilian health crisis centers, and representatives from international organizations such as the CDC Indonesia, JICA, and ABVC.
Seven universities offering FETP in Indonesia, including Udayana University, were invited to promote their programs. This promotion was part of ongoing coordination efforts between universities and the Ministry of Health.
Udayana University's FETP team prepared various promotional materials, including brochures for both the FETP and the Public Health Master's program in both hard-copy and electronic formats, a standing banner with brief information and activities of the FETP, and a slideshow showcasing photos of students, academic and field mentors, and collaborative activities between FETP Universities’, FETP Indonesia and the Ministry of Health. Additionally, an online questionnaire was distributed to gather audience feedback and expectations regarding Udayana's FETP.
Many participants took brochures and asked questions about Udayana's FETP, though fewer were willing to complete the questionnaire or watch the prepared video. Nonetheless, this promotional effort is seen as a positive step towards continued collaboration with the Ministry of Health and professional organizations to address the need for more epidemiologists and public health professionals and to increase the number of graduates produced by educational institutions. As well, this promotion also Increased visibility and recognition of FETP Udayana, widened networking opportunities, obtained feedback for program improvement, increased recruitment and enrollment, enhanced collaboration with the Ministry of Health, increased professional development and alignment with National Health Priorities.
