Strengthening Financial Transparency and Academic Accountability: MIKM Participates in Intensive Single Tuition Fee (BKT) Calculation Workshop

The Master of Public Health (MIKM) Program actively participated in the series of workshops and technical meetings on the calculation of Biaya Kuliah Tunggal (BKT) – Single Tuition Fee, organized by the Vice Rector for Finance (WR2) of Udayana University on 23 October 2025. The agenda continued with a three-day follow-up workshop coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine from 26–28 October 2025.

In practice, the preparation process had begun even earlier. On 21 October 2025, the MIKM Program initiated internal work by reviewing the initial BKT template and forming a dedicated WhatsApp coordination group to streamline communication. This early start reflects the program’s commitment to accuracy, readiness, and accountability in financial planning.

The BKT calculation is an essential institutional effort to determine tuition fees based on real academic activities carried out within each study program. Because the nature of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi—education, research, and community engagement—varies greatly across programs, a careful and program-specific approach is required to ensure that financial planning aligns with actual operational needs and academic responsibilities.

During the workshop, the Program Coordinator, one course coordinator, and two academic staff members engaged intensively in reviewing and dissecting the BKT template provided by the Udayana University Task Force. The team then developed a comprehensive list of additional program-specific activities, such as: Student internships at external government and health institutions; Annual scientific seminars and community service activities; External coordination meetings related to ongoing collaborations with the Ministry of Health and Field-based learning components unique to the public health curriculum

The team further refined the BKT calculation by adjusting for student numbers, activity frequency, national cost standards (SBM), internal SOPs, collaboration agreements (PKS), and other financial benchmarks.

This activity represents more than administrative compliance—it demonstrates the program’s commitment to: Transparency in financial planning, Evidence-based budgeting grounded in real academic workloads, Quality assurance through accurate cost allocation, Accountability in managing resources that directly support student learning and Institutional integrity aligned with national higher education regulations

The process also strengthens the program’s capacity to plan sustainably, advocate for adequate institutional support, and ensure that all academic components—teaching, research, and community engagement—are well-funded and aligned with the MIKM Program’s vision to deliver high-quality, relevant, and impactful public health education.

Ultimately, this intensive BKT workshop reinforces the synergy between academic quality and financial governance, ensuring that educational excellence is supported by a clear, transparent, and accountable budgeting framework.
