Strengthening Academic Spirit through the National Seminar on Emerging Infections and Global Mobility

The event was registered on the Ministry of Health’s Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure high-quality implementation and maximize benefits for participants. In addition to the seminar, a scientific poster competition was held to promote research dissemination among students and professionals in public health.

Prior to the event, the committee conducted an abstract selection process reviewed by three lecturers (dr. Anak Agung Sagung Sawitri, dr. Putu Cintya Denny Yuliyatni, and Putu Widarini) from the MPH Program. A total of 23 abstracts were received, and 15 of the best submissions were selected for the poster session. The posters were showcased twice before the seminar sessions (08:00–09:00 WITA) and shared via a Linktree platform to allow participants to view and vote for their favorite poster.

The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The first keynote speaker, Dr. Anak Agung Ngurah Kusuma Jaya, SP., MPH, presented an engaging session on Strengthening Health Systems and Early Warning for Emerging Infections in Tourism Areas in the Era of Global Mobility, which generated a lively discussion both through live Q&A and the chat box. The second speaker, Dr. Kadek Iwan Darmawan, MPH, continued the dialogue with a presentation on Enhancing Health Services in Tourism Regions to Address Emerging Infection Threats.

At the end of the seminar, the winners of the poster competition were announced: First Place – Ichwan (UGM, Evaluasi Efektivitas Intervensi Kebijakan Pemerintah terhadap Penggunaan dan Resistensi Antibiotik pada Sektor Unggas : A One Health Systematic Review”), Second Place – Kadek Windu (RSUD Gema Santi Nusa Penida, “Digitalisasi Layanan Kesehatan dan SIMRS: Literatur Review Strategi Integratif dalam Kesiapsiagaan Infeksi Emerging pada Kawasan Pariwisata”), and Third Place – Dona Sri Pratiwiningtyas (Universitas Udayana, “Evaluasi SKDR Dengue untuk Penguatan Kesiapan Rumah Sakit Terhadap Pandemi” while the Favorite Poster Award went to Ida Ayu Candrika Widyasari Laksana (Universitas Udayana, “Evaluasi Sistem Surveilans Penyakit Infeksi Emerging pada Sindrom Pernapasan Akut di RSUD Bali Mandara”.

This event not only served as a platform for academic exchange but also demonstrated the program’s commitment to advancing public health preparedness through interdisciplinary collaboration—integrating health, tourism, and epidemiology within a global context. It fostered the development of scientific communication skills among students, encouraged evidence-based thinking, and reflected the program’s alignment with its vision of becoming an internationally recognized center for public health education and research.

Through this national seminar, the MPH Program continues to uphold its values of academic excellence, community responsiveness, and innovation, contributing to continuous quality improvement and supporting indicators of institutional excellence.
