National Seminar on Travel Health by the Master of Public Health Program
The Master of Public Health Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a National Seminar on Travel Health titled A Holistic Approach to Implementing Wellness Tourism to Support Tourists Traveling in Bali. The seminar took place online on September 13, 2024, covering three key topics.
The first topic, Regulations Related to Wellness Tourism to Support Travel Health, was presented by drg. Desak Gede Eka Variasih, MAP, Head of the Division of Primary Care at Bali Provincial Health Office. The second topic, Approaches and Optimization of Wellness Tourism Implementation to Support Travel Health, was delivered by Dr. dr. Made Agus Hendrayana, M.Ked, a lecturer specializing in Travel Health at Udayana University. The final topic, The Role of Health Promoters in Optimizing Preventive and Promotive Efforts in Public Health to Create Holistic Health in Tourism Areas, was presented by Dinar Saurmauli Lubis, SKM, MPH, PhD, a health promotion lecturer at Udayana University. The National Seminar was organized by students from Batch XV and lecturers of the Master of Public Health Program, under the supervision of Faculty of Medicine. This annual seminar aims to foster communication and collaboration among students and lecturers while enhancing students' critical thinking, entrepreneurship, leadership, and other soft skills through event management. Additionally, the chosen topic aligns with the public health focus and the Faculty of Medicine’s expertise in travel and medical tourism.
The seminar attracted approximately 230 participants from across the country, and the presenters received numerous questions from the audience. The open and interactive discussions in each session highlighted the strong interest and concern of the academic, medical, and local communities regarding wellness tourism in their respective areas.
This seminar is anticipated to serve as the first step in fostering greater awareness and support for wellness tourism, particularly within the student community.
