Ensuring Quality and Integrity: Online Entrance Examination for New Students at UNUD Master of Public Health Program

The Master of Public Health Program at Udayana University (UNUD) successfully conducted the entrance examination for new students held in June 4^th 2025, integrating both university-wide and program-specific assessments. UNUD administered language proficiency tests, academic potential tests, and additional standard assessments, while the MPH program conducted evaluations on public health knowledge and structured interviews to assess candidates’ readiness for graduate study.

In an effort to attract applicants from outside Bali, the MPH program has introduced flexible online testing and interviews. This approach reduces the financial and logistical burden for candidates who would otherwise need to attend in-person examinations, while maintaining rigorous standards for assessment. To ensure the integrity and quality of the online examination, participants were instructed to keep their cameras on, provide a secondary camera to show their screen and surroundings, and comply with strict rules against collaboration or other forms of misconduct.

Before the examination began, the Program Coordinator reminded candidates of the rules and conducted verification checks to confirm compliance. Following this, the test questions were shared via Google Forms. Throughout the examination, program staff actively monitored the process, responded to candidate inquiries, and verified that all submitted answers were properly received and recorded in the system.

One hour after the written test concluded, candidates underwent interviews with assigned faculty members. To ensure fairness and consistency, a structured interview guideline was used, covering candidates’ motivation, readiness, anticipated challenges, and their capacity to succeed in the MPH program. This process provided a comprehensive evaluation of both cognitive knowledge and professional potential.

This careful and structured approach to online testing and interviews demonstrates the program’s commitment to upholding high standards in student selection, aligning with accreditation requirements that emphasize process quality and transparency. Furthermore, the initiative supports the MPH program’s vision and mission to produce competent, ethical, and resilient public health professionals.
