Dissemination of the SATE LILIT Program: Strengthening Nutritional Literacy and Reducing Food Waste in Elementary Schools
Denpasar, December 8, 2025 — The Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI) of Udayana University, along with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Bali, held a dissemination event for the SATE LILIT (Save the Best Nutrition Through Integrated Literacy and Education Innovation) Program in the Prof. Ngoerah Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Sudirman Campus.
The SATE LILIT Program is a collaborative initiative supported by Kedaireka 2025 Matching Fund funding to reduce food waste and improve nutritional literacy among elementary school students in Karangasem Regency. The program has been implemented in three schools—SDN 1 Manggis, SDN 2 Besakih, and SDN 3 Labasari—through a series of learning sessions, Tri Hita Karana-based literacy modules, and mentoring by student facilitators.
This dissemination activity was attended by various stakeholders, including the Food Security Agency, the Provincial and Regency Education Agencies, schools, academics, and partner organizations. The team, coordinated by Dinar Lubis SM, SKM, MPH., PhD, presented the program's key findings, best practices in schools, the impact on students' food consumption behavior, and the development of Kesatria Penyelamat Pangan (Food Rescue Knights)—an initiative highlighting students' role as agents of change in reducing food waste.
In addition to presenting the findings, participants also created a "hope tree" to formulate follow-up recommendations, including opportunities for program replication in other schools and the integration of modules into learning activities.
Through this activity, CPHI and SOS Bali hope to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in realizing the movement to stop food waste while supporting food security and promoting sustainable nutrition at the school and broader community levels.
