Continuing Community Service: UNUD IKM Faculty Supports 1000 Meals Initiative with SOS Foundation

On 20 September 2025, the second day of the community service initiative by faculty members of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs in Public Health (S1 and S2 IKM) at Udayana University continued in collaboration with the Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Foundation. Donations of staple foods collected during the previous week were processed by SOS and contributed to the distribution of 1,000 meal boxes for disaster survivors and low-income residents living near the Suwung Final Disposal Site (TPA Suwung).

In addition, soap and other hygiene supplies donated by faculty members were also distributed by SOS to the target communities. Door-to-door educational activities were conducted, providing nutrition and hygiene guidance, although the impact may have been limited due to situational constraints.

This initiative exemplifies the faculty’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, translating academic knowledge into meaningful action. By participating in “1000 Meals = 1000 Smiles”, faculty members not only help improve nutrition and hygiene among vulnerable populations but also strengthen the partnership between UNUD and SOS Foundation. Such activities provide practical lessons in public health outreach, foster collaboration, and reinforce the university’s mission to integrate education, research, and service to address societal needs.
