An Integrated Digital Framework for The Prevention of Heart Attack, Stroke, and Lifestyle Diseases
The Master of Public Health Program, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Public Health Program and the Neurology Specialist Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a guest lecture aimed at improving the lives of stroke patients before they reach critical conditions. The event carried the theme "An Integrated Digital Framework for the Prevention of Heart Attack, Stroke, and Lifestyle Diseases." It took place in the Prof. Dr. I Goesti Ngoerah Gde Ngoerah Room, 4th Floor, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Jalan P.B. Sudirman, Denpasar on March 27, 2026.
The guest lecture aimed to ensure that participants not only understood the theory that behavioral changes can help prevent stroke and heart attack complications, but also gained real-world insights into how digital technology can be utilized as a potential business opportunity within the healthcare sector.
The event featured two distinguished experts in their respective fields. Dr. Bala Nair from Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand delivered a presentation titled "From Awareness to Venture: Digital Ecosystems for Preventing Heart Attacks, Strokes, and Lifestyle Diseases." Meanwhile, Dr. Putri Rossyana Dewi, S.Ked., Sp.N. presented a session entitled "Stroke, Heart Attack, and Lifestyle Changes: Primary Prevention." The discussion was moderated by Made Ayu Hitapretiwi Suryadhi, S.Si., M.HSc., Ph.D.
The event began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Master of Public Health Study Program, Dinar Saurmauli Lubis, S.KM., MPH., Ph.D., who emphasized that digital health is not merely a technological tool but also a bridge connecting research, clinical practice, and community empowerment.
He expressed hope that the guest lecture would broaden participants’ perspectives and inspire them not only to understand health issues but also to design transformative innovations in the healthcare sector.
Following the remarks from the study program coordinator, the event continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R(K). He expressed his deep appreciation for the collaboration between the preclinical and clinical fields represented in the forum.
According to him, interdisciplinary meetings like this are extremely valuable and rare, as they strengthen the foundation for solving future healthcare challenges. The topic of digital ecosystems in the prevention and management of heart attacks and strokes is highly advanced and essential for modern healthcare systems.
"We hope this collaboration will not stop at guest lectures, but will continue through international research and community service initiatives. We must also expand our institutional reach globally through strategic partnerships. Students should use this opportunity to broaden their perspectives, not only focusing on the local scale but also learning from technological developments abroad as motivation to continue innovating," he added.
The guest lecture was attended by students from the Master of Public Health Program, the Bachelor of Public Health Program, the Neurology Specialist Program, as well as lecturers from the respective programs. After the presentations by the speakers, the event concluded with an interactive discussion session involving participants and the invited experts.
