A close-out meeting for the Walvax-sponsored pneumonia vaccine clinical trial was successfully conducted at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan. The study, supported by Walvax as sponsor and Prodia Ltd. as the Contract Research Organization (CRO), marks an important milestone in strengthening clinical research capacity at the primary care level.
Led by Dr. dr. Trisna Windiani, Sp.A(K), the study team—comprising pediatricians, lecturer from the Master of Public Health (S2 IKM), as well as alumni and students—successfully completed all stages of the clinical trial. The study demonstrated strong performance indicators, including timely subject recruitment, low dropout rates, and successful regulatory inspection by the Indonesian FDA (Badan POM).
Research Innovation at Community Health Centers
Conducting a clinical trial within a Puskesmas setting represents a significant step forward in expanding research beyond hospitals. The active involvement of Puskesmas staff in participant recruitment, monitoring, and communication ensured: better community engagement and trust, improved follow-up and participant retention and more context-relevant implementation of research protocols.
