Advancing Assessment Excellence: MIKM Hosts Guest Lecture on Blueprint Development with Expert from Universitas Indonesia
On 24 October 2025, the Master of Public Health (MIKM) Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University held a guest lecture entitled Assessment Principles and development of blueprint, featuring Prof. Diantha Soemantri from Universitas Indonesia, a well-recognized national expert in medical and public health education assessment.
The lecture, delivered virtually, was attended in a hybrid format, with more than 30 course coordinators and assessment leads from both undergraduate and postgraduate Public Health programs gathering together in the Prof. Ngoerah Room to encourage a more interactive learning experience and cross-program discussion. In alignment with the Faculty’s quality assurance direction, the event also involved other study programs within the Faculty of Medicine to broaden institutional impact and unify assessment improvement efforts.

This lecture marks the first milestone in a structured initiative to strengthen assessment blueprints across the curriculum. Following the session, lecturers will receive standardized blueprint templates developed by the Faculty’s Medical Education Unit (MEDU), complete the blueprint for their respective courses, and undergo a focused review process by MEDU experts. These activities will culminate in an intensive Blueprint Development Workshop scheduled on 7 November 2025.
The session was opened by the MPH Program Coordinator and moderated by the Chair of the Program’s Quality Assurance Team. The expertise of Prof. Diantha, combined with the high level of engagement from faculty participants, sparked constructive discussions on key topics such as: balancing formative vs. summative assessments, developing appropriate formats for formative evaluation, principles for determining assessment difficulty levels, standard-setting for MCQs, and aligning course-level assessment blueprints with an overall program assessment blueprint.
The lecture concluded with remarks from the Bachelor of Public Health (S1) Program Coordinator, followed by an internal faculty discussion to reaffirm commitments and next steps for independent work prior to the workshop.
This activity represents more than a single academic event—it serves as a catalyst for quality enhancement across programs. By engaging national expertise, building faculty assessment competencies, and ensuring structured guidance and review, the initiative supports: continuous improvement of teaching and evaluation, stronger alignment between learning outcomes and assessment methods, delivery of high-quality education that prepares graduates for real-world public health challenges and tangible accreditation-relevant outputs at both course and program levels.
