For Ida Ayu Minaka, joining the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) was a turning point in her public health career. The program equipped her with practical skills in epidemiological data analysis, disease surveillance, digital health information systems, and outbreak investigation—competencies essential for protecting communities.

Today, as a surveillance officer at the Gianyar District Health Office, Ida applies the FETP approach to detect outbreaks early, analyze disease trends, and guide evidence-based public health responses.

Her work has ranged from mapping COVID-19 transmission clusters during the pandemic, supporting Indonesia’s national digital contact tracing system (Silacak), and strengthening tuberculosis case detection through the Public-Private Mix (PPM) strategy.

Most recently, she and her team were selected for the SAFETYNET Minigrant Phase II, leading a project on mapping rabies-transmitting animal bite cases in Gianyar to support the district’s goal of rabies elimination by 2030.

Beyond her field work, Ida also shares her knowledge as a health management lecturer in Denpasar.
